Welcome to the 2026-2027 Season🌪

Hi Storm Families, Bench Staff, and Supporters!

As we gear up for another thrilling season on the ice, I want to take a moment to introduce myself as the incoming President of the Oshawa Storm Ringette Association. Whether your athlete is hitting the ice for their very first season or returning as a seasoned competitive player, I am incredibly excited, a little nervous but honored to serve our community this year.

Before looking ahead, I want to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to our departing President, Holly Davies. The immense time, dedication, and heart she poured into this association have left the OSRA a better association, and we owe her a huge debt of gratitude for her years of leadership and service.

From Bowling Alleys to Ringette Rinks

While I’ve served on the board for a few seasons now as Director of Marketing and 1st VP, my personal sports roots actually started off the ice. I have spent over 20 years as a competitive 10-pin bowler, representing Leisure Lanes, competing all over the province.

Volunteering is in my DNA. I grew up watching my parents dedicate years to volunteering and convening both on and off the ice for local sports organizations like NASC Hockey, Oshawa Minor Generals, and the OCHL. They taught me firsthand the heart it takes to build a sports community.

I was introduced to the Storm family through my sister-in-law, who played here for over 15 years, and my father-in-law, who spent years coaching and serving on this very board. My own introduction to the sport was a classic learning curve—at my very first game, the buzzer sounded at the end of the second period, everyone stood up, and I turned and asked, "Aren't they just flooding the ice? Where are you all going?" I quickly learned that ringette plays by its own rules, and I’ve been hooked ever since! In 2019, my oldest daughter attended a "Come Try Ringette" event, and our family's next generation of Storm history officially began.

Our Vision for the Season: Accessibility & Engagement

In my professional life, I work for a priority school here in Oshawa. I am deeply passionate about ensuring all children—regardless of background—get equal opportunities, and I know that keeping kids in sports is how we build strong future leaders.

With that in mind, our focus this season centers on two main pillars:

  • Accessibility & Inclusivity: We will be actively looking for creative ways to lower operational costs and bridge financial gaps so that high-quality programming remains accessible to all families. Sports should be a place where every child can thrive.

  • Member Engagement: A strong association relies on active members. We want to get members off the sidelines and into the mix by boosting morale, assigning supportive team roles, and making volunteering a natural, rewarding part of our associations culture.

Life in the Arena: A Few House Rules

Like all of you, my life is a bit of a juggling act! Alongside volunteering as your President, I have a busy household with an 11-year-old and a 3-year-old. To balance family life, my career, and the association, I will be aiming to respond to all emails and inquiries within 48 hours of receipt. I can be reached at presidentosra@gmail.com with any of your questions or concerns.

When we are at the rink, please come say hello! I love meeting our families and bench staff, and I’m always down for a quick chat in the lobby, I want to hear your voice. Just keep in mind that once game time begins for my daughter, I’ll be strictly "Mom in the stands" cheering her on!

Finally, to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive sport environment for everyone, the association will be strictly enforcing the 24-Hour Rule for all non-emergent concerns. In alignment with Ringette Ontario’s safety and screening policies, if an issue or conflict arises during a game or practice, we ask that all parties wait 24 hours before initiating formal communication. This allows everyone to approach the situation with cool heads so we can work together collaboratively to find a positive resolution.
